DISPATCH Detroit Vol 4 Poem Sample

Someone Drew This

someone drew this
carried memory
a virus and fire
on a stick
into the dark re
located a chunk
of the unknown universe
scratched death time
opened flesh on a rock
with burned paint
orbiting an unfixed star

the sun we believe in
is a dog's tooth
or a tree trunk
in other eyes and constellations
we are too close moving to see
the explosion of infinite density

numbers in the skull
of books in the river
of mouths eyes hands and ears
all breathing maps
with slip knot markers

the cave pictures a moment
outside the body of
food inedible as memory
frozen on a surface
hard with tears
from the hunt
stuck to a rock
no one knew was
spinning
