KATHLEEN RASHID, a painter, born and raised in Detroit, exhibits her work regularly throughout the region. A founding member of Detroit Women in Black, she also builds giant puppets to be worn for street theatre and public protests. Throughout the 80’s and 90’s, she regularly produced drawings and graphics for the Fifth Estate, a non-profit journal of anarchist rants and social criticism. She has also headed painting restoration crews in several of downtown Detroit’s historic theatres. She presently teaches art to all ages at the Detroit Institute of Arts Education Studio.
